Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity program that empowers and engages women in learning construction skills, building homes, and positively impacting communities. This program brings together women from all walks of life and their many abilities – not just swinging a hammer! Each year, there is a National Women Build Week during the week leading up to Mother’s Day filled with Women Build Days and other activities.

National Women Build Week is an annual weeklong event created by Habitat’s Women Build program in partnership with Lowe’s. The program invites women from across the U.S. to devote at least one day to help families build strength, stability and independence through housing. The week is meant to spotlight the homeownership challenges faced by women. Make a difference and build construction skills alongside other women volunteers.

Tuesday, May 8 – Cambridge
Wednesday, May 9 – Cambridge
Friday, May11th – Easton
Saturday, May 12th – Easton and Hurlock
Women on Wednesdays
Women on Wednesdays – WOW!
Our all women crew had such a great experience on the Women Build house that they have decided to continue volunteering together to build stability, strength and self-reliance through home ownership. New volunteers are welcome and no prior construction skills are needed. If you’re willing to learn and looking for camaraderie, this could be a great opportunity for you to make a difference. WOW will work on new home ownership projects – both new construction and rehabs – and will lend their time to neighborhood revitalization projects.
If you are a new volunteer, you can get started by registering online and attending one of our monthly orientation sessions.
For more information or to sign up for WOW notices, contact Rhodana Fields, Neighborhood Revitalization Manager.
Lowes is hosting the following Saturday clinics to help our volunteers prepare:
April 28th @ 9am: Household Garden Tools
May 5th @ 9am: Paint and Trim
To register for the clinics or Women Build days, contact Nora Skiver at 410-476-3204 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
